2007 Murray River Marathon
Newstart Program Ceremony
It all started with the Victorian Police Newstart Program which aimed at giving at-risk aboriginal kids the chance to learn a new way to interact with the police force, as well as teaching them the value of teamwork and believing in themselves.   James was given the chance to take part in this program and we have been so proud of him.   He learnt many new skills, made some new friends and learnt a lot about his aboriginal heritage.   Rebecca and Corey are wanting to know when they can do the program and even Anthony was a bit envious of the adventures James undertook.   It was a fantastic program that has really brought James out of his shell.   Witnessing James' personal growth through the 8 week program truly was a priviledge.

After graduating, James was able to participate in the Murray River Marathon with some of his peers who also undertook the program from all over Victoria.   Of the 420km paddle from Tocumwah to Swan Hill, James was in the kyak for 4 legs, totalling an amazing 100km!!   Fantastic work James.   We are so proud of your efforts and endurance.
